We use AI to assist our work
Our articles are researched and drafted with the assistance of AI tools, then edited by
people. We review as much as we can, as quickly as we can. We publish to a schedule, which
means that review is continuous rather than complete at the moment an article goes live.
We are telling you this because it is true and because you should be able to weigh it. It
does not mean nobody is accountable for what is on this site — it means the accountability
sits with our editorial team rather than with a named individual author.
What our bylines mean
Each subject area has a desk with its own byline — Nora Winslow for going grey, Margot
Delacroix for colour, and so on. These are editorial bylines, not individual
people. They exist so that every subject has one clear owner and one consistent
standard, and so you can see at a glance which desk is responsible for a piece. They are not
claims about a person’s biography, qualifications or personal experience.
How we handle evidence
Where a claim is well supported, we say so. Where something is plausible but the evidence
is thin, we say that too, in the piece rather than in a footnote. We try not to present
preliminary findings as settled, and we try not to imply a result is typical when it is not.
What we will not do
- Promise results that hair biology cannot deliver
- Present a product as a cure for a medical condition
- Describe a timeline as faster than it realistically is
- Recommend something purely because it pays a commission — see our

Corrections
If something here is wrong, we want to know. Email
thesilvertress@proton.me with the article and the problem. We correct errors of
fact as soon as we can and, where a correction materially changes the advice, we note it on
the article.
