This policy explains how The Silver Tress handles personal data. We are based in Ireland and this
policy is written to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data
Protection Act 2018.
1. Who is responsible

2. What we collect
- Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, operating system,
referring page and pages viewed. Collected automatically when you visit. - Cookie and analytics data — how you found and moved through the site. Set
according to the choices you make in our cookie banner. - Anything you send us — if you email us, we hold your address and the
contents of your message so we can reply.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16, and we do not sell personal data.
3. Why we process it, and on what legal basis
- To operate and secure the site — our legitimate interest in running a
working, secure publication (Article 6(1)(f)). - To understand what readers find useful — your consent, given through the
cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a)). - Advertising and affiliate measurement — your consent, given through the
cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a)). - To answer your emails — our legitimate interest in responding to you
(Article 6(1)(f)). - To meet legal obligations — where the law requires it (Article 6(1)(c)).
4. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Strictly necessary cookies keep the site
working and do not require consent. All others — analytics, advertising and affiliate tracking
— are set only if you agree. You can change or withdraw your choices at any time through the
cookie banner, and you can delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies will not
stop you reading the site.
5. Who else is involved
We use third parties to host and run the site, to measure traffic, to serve advertising and
to track affiliate referrals. These providers process data on our behalf or as independent
controllers under their own policies. Some may transfer data outside the European Economic
Area; where that happens it should be covered by an adequacy decision or by Standard
Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep it
Analytics data is retained for as long as needed to understand traffic trends and no longer.
Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your query and any follow-up. Cookie
lifetimes vary and are listed in the cookie banner.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data; to have inaccurate data corrected; to
have data erased; to restrict or object to processing; to data portability; and to withdraw
consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. To exercise any of these,
email thesilvertress@proton.me.
You also have the right to complain to the Irish supervisory authority, the Data Protection
Commission (dataprotection.ie),
or to the authority in your own EU country.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No
website can promise perfect security, and we cannot guarantee it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
